Member for Northern Victoria Region, Candy Broad today announced funding of $10,000 for the Buloke Carnival 2010, which will promote four Buloke Shire towns ‘on the horses back’.
The promotion involves four existing community horse events that highlight the positive community lifestyle available in these towns.
Communities including Charlton (February 21), Birchip (March 14), Wycheproof (October 30) and Donald (November 14) are inviting people to come and experience the town atmosphere and to participate in the picnic and carnival days during 2010.
“The Buloke Carnival 2010 is a new event that will promote living, working and investing in the unique provincial shire of Buloke and its surrounding districts,” Ms Broad said.
“The carnival will present opportunities for each town to cross-promote one another, while highlighting the exciting prospect of a ‘tree change’ scenario into the area.”
Ms Broad said the major focus of the Buloke Carnival 2010 will be to showcase local produce, community organisations and businesses, including real estate, education facilities, health care and aged care services.
Included in the project promotional campaign will be giveaways, town tours, the ‘buy local’ campaign and a business breakfast.
“Because there is no major tourism events surrounding the Buloke Shire, the horse races and family day festivities are the best way to highlight the social, commercial and economic opportunities that this region has to offer,” Ms Broad said.
“The Buloke Carnival 2010 has the potential to grow and to attract new regional sponsors thereby becoming self sustaining.
“Through promotion and marketing, this event will become a popular and well-known annual event and will inturn reinforce local industry and attract new residents.”
Ms Broad said Brumby Labor Government funding for the $24,580 event was being provided to Buloke Shire Council through the Provincial Victoria Local Events Program.
“The Provincial Victoria Local Events Program is part of Moving Forward, the Brumby labor Government’s $502 million plan to make Provincial Victoria the best place to live, work, invest and raise a family,” Ms Broad said
“The Brumby Labor Government is committed to working in partnership with local councils and communities to drive new growth and investment opportunities across provincial Victoria.”
