A new state of the art Ambulance Service was officially opened in Yarrawonga today by Member for Northern Victoria Region, Candy Broad.
Six country ambulance services will have new homes thanks to an $8.7M funding boost from the Brumby Labor Government including Yarrawonga, which has received $1.46M for a new purpose built facility.
“This new state of the art facility will provide the hard working paramedics and Ambulance Community Officers, who work at Yarrawonga, with the best facilities so they can continue providing the best care”. Ms Broad said.
“The Brumby Labor Government is taking action to deliver the highest quality ambulance services and facilities to communities across country Victoria,” Ms Broad said.
“Approximately 1,000 cases are responded to each year by the Yarrawonga Ambulance Service and additional Paramedics will now be stationed here on an ongoing basis to assist with this growing demand,” Ms Broad said
This new station is an important initiative that will ensure the availability of accommodation for these extra resources. It also builds on the extensive ambulance capital works program underway with 35 stations currently receiving upgrades around the State.
The Brumby Labor Government provided a record $186 million boost to ambulance services, delivering 59 new and upgraded services across 48 communities throughout the State.
Ms Broad said Victoria’s ambulance service was the best in Australia thanks to the work of our Paramedics and a funding boost from the Brumby Labor Government.
“The Brumby Labor Government has more than doubled funding for ambulance services since 1999, including a record $186 Million boost unveiled in last year’s State Budget – the largest investment in Victoria’s history,” she said
“I would like to thank the Paramedics and Ambulance Community Officers for the extraordinary care they provide to the local community, and I hope that this new facility will better meet their operational needs and the needs of the community for many years to come” Ms Broad said.
