Local Kerang Student Honoured At Premier’s VCE Awards

Local student, Mitchell Copland from Kerang Technical High School had his academic achievements honoured at the Premier’s VCE Awards ceremony at Crown Palladium on Tuesday, 13 July, 2010.

Victorian Premier, John Brumby presented commemorative awards to the state’s 28 top All-Round VCE High Achievers who gained study scores of 46 or higher in at least five VCE studies in 2008 and 2009. 

A total of 326 awards were presented to 295 students by professionals including, fashion designer Bettina Liano, chef Jacques Reymond, comedian Cal Wilson, AFL champion Scott Lucas, and meteorologist David Brown.

State member for Northern Victoria Region, Candy Broad congratulated Mitchell on his exceptional results and said he should feel extremely proud of his achievements.

“I’d like to extend my personal congratulations to Mitchell, you are an inspiration to your peers and to us all,” Ms Broad said.

“This young man has shown an impressive level of dedication and drive to reach his goals.

“I wish Mitchell every success in his chosen career. I’m sure you will excel in whatever path you choose to follow.”

Awards were presented in the following categories:  28 Top All-Round VCE High Achievers, Best Three International Students, Best 10 Students in English, Best 20 Students in Mathematics, Languages other than English and Best Five Students in Other VCE studies.

Forty-two awards went to Catholic schools, 94 to Government schools, 184 to Independent schools and six awards to other education providers.
