Nominations Open For 2011 Victorian Honour Roll Of Women

Posted
15 July 2010

Candy Broad, Member for Northern Victoria Region, today invited the community to honour inspirational women, by nominating them for the 2011 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

“The Honour Roll is a great opportunity to recognise the achievements of women from all sections of the community, different areas of life, and diverse backgrounds,” Ms Broad said.
Opening the call for nominations, Women’s Affairs Minister, Maxine Morand MP hailed the Victorian Honour Roll of Women as a true celebration of the important contribution made to Victoria, by women.
Since 2001 the Victorian Honour Roll of Women has recognised and celebrated the achievements of women who have made a significant contribution in a particular field or made a lasting contribution that benefits the lives of other women and the wider community – in Victoria, Australia or internationally.

Ms Broad said women could be nominated for their contributions in a wide range of fields from education, social justice and science to medicine, human rights, media, literature and arts, sport and recreation, as well as involvement in regional, ethnic and indigenous communities.

“If you know a woman who has made a difference in your community, now’s the time to ensure she is recognised,’’ Ms Broad said.

Victorian Honour Roll inductees will be announced as part of International Women’s Day, in March 2011.

Nominations for the 2011 Victorian Honour Roll of Women close on 13 October 2010. For nomination forms and more information visit www.women.vic.gov.au
