St Arnaud Fire Brigade received a major boost to its firefighting fleet today as the Member for Northern Victoria, Ms Candy Broad, handed over the keys to a new $225,000 Light Pumper.
Ms Broad said the new firefighting vehicle, funded through CFA’s Capital Works Program, would significantly improve the brigade’s firefighting capability.
“With the fire season approaching, this pumper is a welcome addition to the region’s fire defences,” Ms Broad said.
The new Hino ‘Type 2’ pumper has improved capacity, improved manoeuvrability and the pump itself is easier to run than earlier models.
“St Arnaud Brigade has a long and proud tradition of providing a vital service to the local community in keeping it safe from the threat of bushfire,” Ms Broad said.
“On behalf of all Victorians I would like to thank the members of St Arnaud Brigade for their service to their community.”
“The Brumby Government recognises the extraordinary skills, dedication and community mindedness of our volunteers,” she said.
“The Brumby Government values the important work of Victoria’s emergency services and is committed to ensuring that they have all the necessary resources to perform their role.
“Accordingly, the Brumby Government delivered a $136.6 million boost to Victoria’s emergency services, in this year’s budget underlining our commitment to bushfire preparation and response,” Ms Broad said.
